Melvin Burgess is one of the most popular and controversial children’s authors writing today.  His recent books include ‘Doing It’, which follows the sexual experiences of three teenage boys and was adapted for American television. ‘An Angel for May, a time slip story that became a multi-award-winning film, ‘Junk’, which tackles the issue of drug addiction and was also filmed, ‘Lady: My Life As A Bitch’, which treats the sexual awakening of a teenage girl in fantastical terms, and the ambitious and unsettling ‘Bloodtide’, based on the first part of the Icelandic Volsunga Saga. Recently Melvin wrote ‘The Well’, a serial for BBC TV and Online. The film CROSSING 23, based on his novel ‘The Baby and Fly Pie’, is in preparation.
